Gerard
Batten was a founder member of the UK Independence Party
in September 1993 and was the first Party Secretary 1994
to 1997. He has also served as a member of UKIP’s
National Executive Committee. He has fought numerous elections
on behalf of UKIP and in June 2004 he was elected UKIP’s
first MEP for London. He won a second five year term in
June 2009.

the European Arrest Warrant. Here the family of Andrew Symoeou,
now awaiting trial in Greece, tell of his current situation.
Under a EAW any British citizen may now be extradited to another
EU country as a mere bureaucratic formality. For more information,
